椿山荘にて行われたアメリカから
来日されたカップルの
プロポーズにおいて、
空間装飾を担当させて頂きました。
言語や文化、育ってきた
背景が異なっていても、
人生の大切な瞬間に
込める想いは、どこか普遍的です。
「一緒に未来を歩んでいきたい」
その気持ちが、場所や国を
越えて交わされる時間に、
私たちは花と灯りを
通して寄り添いました。
今回の舞台となった椿山荘は、
日本の四季や時間の重なりを、
静かに内包する庭園と
建築が共存する場所。
海外から訪れる方にとっては、
観光地ではなく
「日本の空気そのもの」を
感じる特別な空間でもあります。
私たちが意識したのは、
日本的であることを誇張するのではなく、
この場所が本来持っている静けさや余白を、
そのまま体験して頂くこと。
足元に灯るキャンドルの光、
夜の庭に溶け込むように
配置したグリーン。
過剰な演出ではなく、
時間や空気が自然と
立ち上がるような
構成を心がけました。
プロポーズという瞬間は、
祝福であると同時に、
強い「決意」が生まれる時間です。
だからこそ華やかさよりも、
誠実さと静けさが残る空間を。
言葉が交わされるその前から、
想いがそっと伝わっていくように。
文化が違っても、
その感覚はきっと共有できる。
私たちはそう信じて、
装飾を整えていきました。
近年、X you では
日本の空間美や花のあり方を、
インバウンドのお客様にも
体験して頂く機会が増えています。
それは「日本らしさ」を
押し出すことではなく、
日本に流れる時間の速度や、
余白の美しさを、
そのまま翻訳するような
仕事だと感じています。
この夜の空気、
キャンドルの揺らぎ、
庭に溶けていく静かな時間。
そうしたすべてが重なり、
いつか記憶をたどるとき、
言葉より先に心に浮かぶ
風景になりますように。
国境を越えて訪れたこの場所で、
人生の節目を迎えられたおふたりへ。

A Moment That Transcends Borders
— Proposal Styling at Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo
X you was honored to create the floral and spatial styling for
a proposal by a couple visiting from the United States, held at Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo.
No matter the language, culture, or background we come from,
the emotions surrounding life’s most important moments remain universal.
The desire to walk into the future together is a feeling that quietly transcends borders.
Through flowers and light, we sought to gently accompany that moment.
Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo, the setting for this proposal,
is a place where Japanese architecture and a timeless garden coexist in harmony.
For guests visiting from abroad, it is not simply a destination,
but a space where one can truly feel the rhythm, depth, and atmosphere of Japan itself.
Our intention was not to emphasize “Japanese aesthetics” in an overt way,
but rather to allow the space to speak for itself —
to let its calm, its stillness, and its sense of time naturally unfold.
Soft candlelight illuminated the path beneath their feet.
Greenery was placed as though dissolving into the nighttime garden.
Rather than creating a spectacle, we focused on shaping an environment
where the air, the light, and the moment could quietly rise into presence.
A proposal is not only a celebration —
it is also a moment of deep commitment.
For that reason, we value sincerity over extravagance,
and spaces that leave a lasting sense of honesty rather than excess.
Even before words were spoken,
we hoped the intention would already be felt.
Though cultures may differ,
we believe that this sensitivity can be shared universally.
In recent years, X you has had increasing opportunities to create for international guests.
For us, this work is not about presenting “Japan” as a concept,
but about translating the pace of time, the sense of space,
and the quiet beauty that naturally exists here.
The atmosphere of the evening,
the gentle movement of candlelight,
the stillness woven into the garden —
may all of these elements someday resurface softly in memory,
before words ever do.
To the couple who chose this place, far from home,
to mark such an important milestone in their lives —
